Parts of Hua Hin are noticeably brighter at night thanks to the installation of LED street lights throughout the city.
The Hua Hin municipality has said it has completed the installation of over 400 LED streetlights, as part of a policy to upgrade the town’s lighting system. The new lights aim to enhance safety and visibility for both residents and visitors.
On 6 August 2024, Mayor Nopporn Wuttikul, along with Deputy Mayor Ms. Phailin Kongphan, Mr. Udom Duangkae, Chairman of the Municipal Council, Mr. Jirawat Brahmani, Municipal Clerk, Mr. Kalayut Kuyukam, Director of the Engineering Department, Mr. Kamthon Khiewngam, Director of the Civil Engineering Division, Mrs. Jirawan Jaeksin, Director of the Treasury Division, and other officials from the Engineering Department, held a meeting to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement and installation of the LED streetlights. The project included the installation of 435 LED streetlights, each with a power rating of 120 watts, as part of the electrical and radio material procurement project under the Thai Innovation List.

Officials from the Office of the Auditor General of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province provided oversight to ensure that the budget was spent cost-effectively, with an emphasis on savings and maximum benefits. The meeting was held in the Chomsinthorn Room at the Hua Hin Municipality Office.
This initiative follows a similar project completed last year, which saw the installation of new LED streetlights along Soi 112. That project involved the setup of 126 LED streetlights with a power of 100 watts each, alongside 63 new street light poles, each standing at 9 metres.
The LED streetlights are expected to improve visibility and safety for pedestrians and motorists alike. The move also aligns with the municipality’s commitment to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. Hua Hin Municipality assured that the installation adheres to all government regulations, ensuring both the quality of work and the safety of the installation.
Hua Hin Municipality has indicated that such infrastructure improvements will continue, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain Hua Hin as a well-lit and welcoming town for all.
