The Royal Gazette has announced that the Ministry of Interior has officially upgraded Hua Hin Town Municipality to Hua Hin City Municipality.
Published in the Royal Gazette, Volume 141, Special Section 294 Ng, Page 28, on October 30, 2024, the Ministry of Interior’s notice outlines this change for Hua Hin Town Municipality in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, which is now designated as “Hua Hin City Municipality.”
The elevation to city status was sought by Hua Hin Town Municipality, which, having over 50,000 residents and sufficient revenue, meets the criteria outlined in the Municipal Act of 1953. Following an evaluation, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that Hua Hin Town Municipality satisfies the requirements of Section 11 of the Municipal Act of 1953, as revised in the Municipal Act (No. 12) of 2003, and approved the change.
Under Sections 11 and 13 of the Municipal Act of 1953, as amended by the Municipal Act (No. 12) of 2003, the Minister of Interior formally declares that Hua Hin Town Municipality is now Hua Hin City Municipality.
With this status change, the city’s jurisdiction will follow the boundaries specified in the Ministry of Interior’s attached map and announcement. All assets, liabilities, rights, and obligations of Hua Hin Town Municipality will be transferred to Hua Hin City Municipality immediately upon the change, and existing municipal regulations will continue to apply.
The change is scheduled to take effect on March 28, 2025.
