Infrastructure development is set to be a priority in Hua Hin following the local election victory of Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul, who is poised to become the first mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality.
Among the key initiatives outlined by the mayor-elect is the construction of a 22-kilometre road running alongside the railway line from Bo Fai to Khao Tao.
The project, which would stretch the length of Hua Hin, aims to reduce congestion on main roads and improve north-south connectivity across the city. Mr. Nopporn said the proposal had already made significant progress through ongoing discussions with the State Railway of Thailand.
Mr. Nopporn also announced plans to transform Khao Hin Lek Fai into a new city landmark. The hill, located just two kilometres from the coastline and already known for its sweeping views of Hua Hin, would be upgraded with improved infrastructure and seven dedicated viewpoints to attract more visitors.
Additional plans include tackling the problem of macaques in areas such as Khao Takiab and Khao Hin Lek Fai, and enhancing the city’s water supply system to ensure long-term capacity for residents and businesses as demand grows.
“I will build a new DNA for the Hua Hin Phalang Mai team—everyone must answer every call and return every message. We must always see the people as our bosses. Don’t worry—everything I’ve promised in my policy will become reality as quickly as I can make it happen,” Mr. Nopporn said.
According to unofficial results released on Monday morning, Mr. Nopporn, candidate No. 1 from the Hua Hin Phalang Mai group, secured 11,402 votes. He defeated Mr. Phitsanu Klakhai of the Mahanakhon Hua Hin group, who received 6,814 votes, and Mr. Q Arunoros of the Fight for Hua Hin group, who received 2,536 votes.

The election, which took place on Sunday 11 May, marked the first time Hua Hin residents have voted for a city mayor, following the area’s administrative upgrade from a town to a city municipality on 31 March.
Voter turnout stood at around 49%, with 21,948 of 44,823 eligible voters casting ballots.
Mr. Nopporn had previously served as mayor of Hua Hin Town Municipality and is a well-known and popular political figure in the area. Following the vote, he thanked residents for their continued support.
“I’m deeply thankful to the people of Hua Hin for placing their trust in the Hua Hin Phalang Mai team,” he said after the unofficial results were announced on election night.
“This marks my first term as mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality, and we have also secured every seat in the municipal council across all districts. This strong support gives us the encouragement to move forward together. Hua Hin must continue to move forward—and we’ll do it together.”
“This is the first step in our next chapter as a city municipality. Our entire team has been elected to the municipal council across all districts, and we will work together to move Hua Hin forward,” he said.
The mayor-elect also promised to improve communication between city officials and residents, calling on his team to respond to every message and treat the public as their top priority.
The Election Commission is expected to formally certify the results by 10 June, provided no complaints are lodged. If objections are raised, certification may be delayed by up to 60 days.
