Hua Hin City Municipality has begun work to prepare a new Hua Hin fishing pier parking and community activity area near the city’s fishing pier, following a large-scale clean-up operation carried out this week.
The initiative focuses on land near the former Mee Karuna restaurant on Naresdamri Road, along the beachfront next to the pier. Municipal officials say the site will be developed as a temporary public space that can support both community activities and additional parking for residents and visitors.
The work follows a “Big Cleaning” operation held on Wednesday, led by Mayor Nopporn Wuttikul, alongside municipal executives, councillors and senior officials. Heavy machinery, including backhoes and tractors, was used to clear and level the area as part of initial site preparation.
Site preparation to support parking and community use
According to Hua Hin City Municipality, the project is being carried out in cooperation with the Marine Department, which jointly oversees the land. The municipality plans to level the ground and pour concrete to make the area suitable for two main purposes.
The first is a flexible activity space that can be used for local festivals, community gatherings and small-scale events. The second is a parking area designed to ease congestion around the fishing pier, particularly during busy periods and tourism peaks.
Officials said the development of the Hua Hin fishing pier parking area is intended to improve access to the waterfront while making better use of underutilised public land. Once completed, the space will be managed in coordination with residents from nearby coastal and Naresdamri communities.
Municipal workers from the Engineering Office’s Civil Engineering Division took part in the clean-up, supported by teams from the Public Health and Environment Department. The work included removing debris, clearing vegetation and improving the overall condition of the site to make it suitable for public use.
The municipality has encouraged local residents to participate in the ongoing management of the area, with the aim of promoting shared responsibility and community involvement. Officials said this approach would help ensure the space remains orderly, functional and responsive to local needs.
City officials added that improving public spaces near key landmarks such as the fishing pier forms part of wider efforts to balance daily life for residents with the needs of visitors, while maintaining the area as a practical and accessible part of Hua Hin.
