Police previously said the receptionist was found seriously injured behind the hotel’s reception counter.
Investigators said CCTV footage showed a man lingering near reception during the night before climbing over the counter and attacking her. He then took personal belongings and fled.
Police arrested the defendant on the evening of 20 January. Officers found him curled up in grass at the end of Soi Hua Hin 42, about 300 metres from the railway line.
According to the report, the court said the death sentence would deliver justice for the victim’s family and protect public safety.
