Hua Hin Artist Village: Explore creativity at Baan Sillapin

Baan Sillapin Hua Hin, also known as the Hua Hin Artist Village, is a well-known destination for art lovers seeking inspiration, creativity and a relaxing place to explore. Located in the Hin Lek Fai area of Hua Hin, the village has become a cultural landmark that showcases a wide variety of visual art forms in a natural setting.

Founded in 2000 by art enthusiast Mr. Chumpol Donsakul and his family, Baan Sillapin was later shaped into a thriving art community under the guidance of respected Thai artist Professor Tawee Kesangam. Today, the site covers nine rai (approximately 14,400 square metres) and is home to more than 20 studios, exhibition spaces, and a wide collection of artistic works.

Visitors to Baan Sillapin can expect to find paintings in watercolour, oil and acrylic, alongside sculpture, wood carvings, antique collections, and handmade crafts. A standout feature is Professor Tawee’s own studio, which houses The Queen of Flowers Born from the Mud, the largest watercolour painting in Thailand at 400 x 110 cm.

The village is designed as a space for both quiet reflection and interactive engagement. Guests can wander through tree-shaded paths, observe artists at work, and even take part in hands-on workshops. Activities for children are also available, making it a family-friendly destination.

An on-site café offers refreshments, adding to the relaxed pace of the experience. Meanwhile, regular exhibitions and events, including the annual Prachuap Khiri Khan Art Festival, provide additional reasons to revisit.

Baan Sillapin is not only a place to view and buy original art but also a venue that gives insight into the creative process. Many of the artists are happy to speak with visitors, making each trip a unique and personal experience.
