Pak Nam Pran, where the Pranburi River meets the Gulf of Thailand, is one of the most distinctive communities in Pranburi District. Known for its long-standing fishing traditions, the village has become a centre for fresh seafood and local products that attract visitors from across the region.
A fishing community with flavour
Fishing is the lifeblood of Pak Nam Pran, and many villagers continue to earn their living from the sea. Each day, fishermen bring their catches to shore, supplying local restaurants and market stalls.
The result is some of the freshest seafood available, with squid being the village’s most famous product. Fresh squid, sun-dried squid, shrimp paste, and dried shrimp are among the specialities that can be bought at affordable prices.
Locals often say that a trip to Pranburi would be incomplete without tasting Pak Nam Pran’s sun-dried squid, regarded by many as the best of its kind.
More than seafood
Beyond its food, Pak Nam Pran offers visitors a glimpse into a slower pace of life. The quiet streets, the sight of colourful fishing boats, and the relaxed atmosphere make it a popular stop for those wanting to experience authentic coastal living.
Nearby attractions add to the appeal. The Sirinat Rajini Mangrove Ecosystem Learning Centre offers an elevated wooden walkway that winds deep into a thriving mangrove forest, giving visitors an up-close look at local ecology. For those looking for outdoor activities, Khao Kalok (Skull Mountain) and Naresuan Beach provide scenic spots for exploration and leisure.
Pak Nam Pran is also home to the Shrine of Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, Prince of Chumphon, located inside a park built to commemorate His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday. Visitors often stop to pay their respects here while exploring the area.
Reaching Pak Nam Pran is straightforward. From Hua Hin, head south along Phetkasem Road through Cha-am and Pranburi District. At the Pranburi intersection, turn left and continue about 11.5 kilometres to the community. Once inside Pak Nam Pran Subdistrict, another left turn leads directly to the village.
With its combination of fresh seafood, local culture, and nearby natural attractions, Pak Nam Pran remains one of Pranburi’s most appealing destinations.
