Suan Son Pradipat Beach, often called simply “Suan Son” by locals, or ‘sea pine beach’, is a popular alternative to Hua Hin’s main beach. Located about seven kilometres south of Hua Hin town, the beach is known for its line of pine trees that provide shade along its entire stretch, creating a cooler and more comfortable spot for visitors.
The beach sits within an area managed by the Royal Thai Army, with its front facing Phetkasem Road and its back opening onto a wide, sandy shoreline and clear water. While the sand and sea are similar to other beaches in the area, Suan Son’s appeal lies in its quiet atmosphere and natural setting.
The northern section of Suan Son features guesthouses, air-conditioned villas, and a golf development centre along the beachfront. This area is aimed at visitors staying in the Royal Thai Army’s rest and rehabilitation facilities. The southern section includes a jogging track, an army campsite, and a rest area, with the accommodation located about 1.5 kilometres inland.
Previously reserved for army personnel, the beach is now open to the public. Visitors can swim, walk along the sand, or relax under the shade of the pines. A small garden and the skeleton of a Bryde’s whale found locally add extra interest to the site.
Suan Son Pradipat Beach offers shade, sea views, and quiet escapes
Unlike other beaches in Hua Hin, Suan Son has no jet skis, banana boats, or other water sports – or at least not as much as some of the other beaches. This helps keep the setting peaceful. From the beach, visitors can see Khao Takiab to the left, Khao Tao to the right, and small offshore islands — Koh Singto, Koh Sadao, and Koh Khi Nok — whose shapes resemble a turtle.
There are a handful of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, as well as deckchair hire for those who prefer to settle in for the day. The early mornings offer a highlight, with sunrise views over the water drawing local photographers and beach walkers alike. The beach is generally quiet on weekdays but can become busy during weekends and long public holidays, particularly with Thai visitors.
