The Deputy Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police and the Deputy Commissioner General of the Police Office Region 7 in Thailand have provided intelligent helmets and motorcycles to police officers in Hua Hin, aiming to take care of and safeguard both Thai and foreign people in the city. In September Deputy Commissioner General Police General Wuth Liptapanlop, who is responsible for taking care of tourist attractions throughout Thailand, reviewed the work of Hua Hin police, especially crime, firearms and illicit drug issues.

He asked the police to continue their active work to boost safety in the city. Police General Wuth asked Police Major General Surachai Khuandechakup, the Deputy Commissioner General of the Police Office Region 7, to provide police inspectors with 20 intelligent helmets and Honda motorcycles. The helmets, with a very small video camera attached, can record incidents in which the police are involved as evidence for legal prosecution. Produced by Thai technicians, the intelligent helmets cost 2,000 THB.

They will be Hua Hin as a trial and if they are proved to be effective and efficient, the Royal Thai Police Office will then provide them to all police officers in Thailand. “I’ve been informed that, in terms of safety in Hua Hin, many tourists are confident with the work of our officers so that reservations for hotels and guesthouses here are very high from October to December this year. The Hua Hin police have to work hard in monitoring beaches and entertainment venues. They should also work with local administrators and tourist police officers to produce maximum safety,” concluded Pol. Gen. Wuth.
