Hua Hin Market Village, along with the Hua Hin Mayor and the traffic police chief, have recently given local motorcycle-taxis drivers price list boards and asked them not to take advantage of any passengers.
The General Manager of Hua Hin Market Village Mr. Amornthep Uammeepian, the Mayor of Hua Hin Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul and the chief of Hua Hin traffic police Pol. Lt. Col. Phitsanu Lanok presented the boards which show the name of the motorcycletaxi team, the place where the team is located, the number of motorcycles the team has, as well as the prices according to the destination.
Each motorcycle-taxi team is allowed to set up the price in agreement with the Hua Hin police, the municipal office and the provincial transport office concerned. Any team of motorcycle-taxis that charged prices not stated in the agreement or violate the regulations will face action. Mr. Amornthep said that the price list boards had been made by Hua Hin Market Village and be maintained by them. According to the Hua Hin Mayor, the motorcycle-taxis are favored by local people and tourists with around 1,000 drivers working in the city.
He asked all drivers not to overcharge passengers which is considered an act of cheating. Drivers have been asked to work with Hua Hin authorities to take care of the city and maintain order so that both Thais and foreigners enjoy their stay. As hosts, motorcycle-taxi drivers need to treat their guests very well. The chief of traffic police added that, besides providing transport to the passengers, drivers should cooperate with police officers to safeguard Hua Hin.
In case they see or find suspicious situations, they should inform the officers at any time. For the upcoming Christmas and New Year in Hua Hin when many people visit the city, the authorities asked the motorcycle-taxi drivers not to take advantage of the visitors by charging them with higher prices. If a passenger files a complaint, the police will respond with appropriate action.
