In August the Mayor of Hua Hin Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul and the deputy mayor attended a meeting with members of the Hua Hin Cultural Council (HHCC), with an agenda to find the next HHCC Chairperson. The participants agreed that Mrs. Wanna Choksuchart would be the Chairperson for one more term, thanks to her dedication and past works recognised by both Thais and foreigners. Mrs. Wanna has been an active worker on many cultural events and activities, particularly a student contest of Thai etiquettes, a Dharma lecture by Buddhist monks for youths, a standard classical Thai dance, a traditional Thai dress event, a concert of Thai folk songs, and a children’s contest about Thai culture. The highlight that is most recognised by people in Hua Hin is her work on organising events to celebrate Thai Mother and Father Day’s to commemorate the birthday of Their Majesties the King and the Queen. Each activity that Mrs. Wanna has initiated and organised boosts the positive image of Hua Hin.

They are examples that the cultural councils in other provinces of Thailand would like to follow in order to foster and promote their local tradition and culture. The award-winner of the Ministry of Culture, Mrs. Wanna admitted that she had become tired during her last term and would like other members to chair the HHCC as many of them are well-qualified. However, since most of the HHCC members approved that
she should chair the council for one term, she is pleased to keep working with the current 38 members who helped her throughout the previous term. The HHCC secretary will be Dr. Thaweesak Dechapanya. The HHCC is discussing the annual December event which will aim to present Thai culture to foreign tourists and Thai visitors. The event is likely to be held at Phon Kingphet Memorial Park as in previous years, announced Mrs. Wanna.
