Prachuap Khiri Khan officials have selected Ban Krut Beach Community as the province’s model community for the “Community Tourism, Cultural Experience” project in 2025. The initiative aims to promote community-based tourism, generate income, and support the local economy.

A selection committee met on 11 February at Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Hall to evaluate potential communities for the project. Chaired by Deputy Governor Preeda Sookjai, the meeting included Kritsana Paesaengchan, the Provincial Cultural Officer, along with representatives from various government agencies.

The committee assessed two communities—Ban Tan Jed Yod Community in Rai Kao Subdistrict, Sam Roi Yot District, and Ban Krut Beach Community in Thong Chai Subdistrict, Bang Saphan District. Both communities demonstrated a commitment to cultural tourism and economic sustainability, integrating local traditions with the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.

Following presentations highlighting each community’s attractions and tourism potential, officials selected Ban Krut Beach Community as the provincial representative. This designation qualifies the community for further evaluation at the national level.

The selection was based on several criteria, including the community’s ability to preserve its cultural heritage while developing tourism opportunities, its sustainable management practices, and its promotional efforts. The selection committee will conduct an on-site assessment to ensure the community meets all necessary requirements.

Officials see the initiative as a step towards strengthening local tourism and fostering long-term economic growth in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
