BluPort is celebrating Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s Birthday and National Mother’s Day with the “Elegance of Thai Woman #2” event, set to run from August 10 to 30, 2024.
The event, held at Proud Thai on the B floor, marks its second year and showcases the creativity of new-generation designers who are revitalising traditional Thai fabrics.
Under the theme “Thai Fabric: Wear It with Fun,” the event aims to make Thai fashion appealing to younger audiences for various occasions and festivals. The focus is on modern designs that elevate Thai fabrics to international recognition, promoting career opportunities and generating income for local communities.
Throughout August, visitors can explore a rare Thai fabric exhibition celebrating National Mother’s Day and National Thai Fabric Day. The exhibition features exquisite hand-woven fabrics crafted by communities and artisans from across Thailand. It highlights the valuable handicrafts and works of Thai designers, allowing visitors to appreciate and take pride in these traditional arts.
From August 10 to 13, the “Print Your Own Fabric Workshop” offers participants the opportunity to create unique designs on Thai fabrics, making special gifts for their mothers. The “Music for Mom” concert on August 12, featuring youth from the Huahin Music Studio by Kru Sol, will showcase musical performances dedicated to mothers.
On August 13, a Thai fabric fashion show will present local designs from all four regions of Thailand. The show, under the concept “Fun with Thai Fabric from All Four Regions,” will feature special guest models from the Miss Grand Prachuabkhirikhan 2023 team, accompanied by live music from local youth bands.
The event will also include a panel discussion where designers will share their inspirations and discuss the history and identity of the traditional fabrics showcased in the fashion show.
