Local authorities in Hua Hin have launched a dengue fever prevention campaign aimed at reducing the risk of outbreaks through stronger community involvement and coordination.
On 22 July, Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul, Mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality, presided over the opening ceremony of the dengue fever prevention and control programme held at the Golden Sea Hotel Hua Hin.
The event was attended by key municipal figures including Sub-Lieutenant Likhit Nuneen, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Hua Hin City Municipality, along with municipal councillors, heads of departments, and staff from the Public Health and Environment Division.
Also present were 200 community leaders and health volunteers from across the Hua Hin municipal area. Attendees took part in training sessions supported by medical experts from Hua Hin Hospital.

The campaign focuses on building local capacity to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, as well as raising public awareness about the importance of prevention. Participants were encouraged to exchange ideas and discuss local challenges in controlling the spread of dengue.
With dengue fever remaining a significant public health concern in Thailand, the initiative underlines the importance of cooperation beyond government agencies alone. Authorities stressed that efforts to reduce the disease must be carried out at the community level, with ongoing participation from residents.
Officials hope the campaign will help develop a more effective and standardised approach to dengue prevention across neighbourhoods in Hua Hin.
