Prachuap Khiri Khan is expected to see heavy rain on 11–12 December as national disaster officials warn of a period of unsettled weather affecting large parts of the South and the central region.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) said the province is among the areas most at risk of flash floods, runoff, and localised flooding during this period.
In an advisory issued on 9 December, the DDPM urged Prachuap Khiri Khan and eight southern provinces to stay alert as an easterly wind surge is forecast to increase rainfall from Wednesday. The Thai Meteorological Department’s latest bulletin noted that heavy rain is likely in many areas of Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon, with very heavy rain expected further south.
Local authorities have been instructed to prepare response teams, place machinery in at-risk zones, and ensure personnel are ready to act quickly should flooding or runoff occur. Areas that regularly experience flooding have been prioritised for monitoring.

Officials in provinces facing strong winds and rough seas have also been asked to warn the public and tourists to avoid entering the water, issue navigation advisories, and caution vessels to operate carefully. While Prachuap Khiri Khan is not listed among the high-risk coastal zones for strong waves, local officials are coordinating with marine agencies to monitor conditions and advise residents where necessary.
From 13–16 December, the lower South is expected to continue experiencing widespread rainfall as the northeast monsoon strengthens over the Gulf of Thailand. The DDPM said its regional centres, including Region 4 based in Prachuap Khiri Khan, are working with provincial authorities to track rainfall and water levels closely.
Temporary shelters may be prepared where required, and residents in vulnerable areas are being urged to keep up to date with official weather updates and safety instructions. The DDPM advised people to monitor announcements, follow alerts via the THAI DISASTER ALERT mobile application, and report incidents through the 1784 hotline or the Line account “DDPM Incident Report 1784”.
The DDPM said Prachuap Khiri Khan remains one of the primary provinces to watch for heavy rain, flash floods, and runoff between 11–12 December. Residents are encouraged to plan travel carefully, check local conditions, and stay informed as the weather system moves across the region.
