Hua Hin beach demolitions advance as disputed properties await court rulings
Hua Hin municipality is pressing ahead with beachfront demolitions where owners have consented to the work, while awaiting court rulings before proceeding at properties affected by legal disputes.
Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul inspected progress on Friday, 6 November, as contractors used machinery to break up concrete surfaces and demolish structures near Chao Mae Thap Thim Shrine.
He was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Sanphop Ungrasmi, mayoral advisers, municipal councillors, Engineering Bureau director Kalayut Kuyukham and municipal legal officers.

Work is being prioritised in public areas and at residential properties where owners have agreed to demolition. Some restaurant premises and other buildings remain inaccessible because they are locked or subject to other restrictions.
During the visit, officials also checked concrete-breaking work and preparations to remove debris from a restaurant forecourt.
Nopporn said the municipality was accelerating work wherever access and consent allowed. However, properties affected by legal disputes must await rulings from the Region 7 Court of Appeal and Hua Hin Provincial Court before officials can determine how to proceed.
He said the rulings would guide the municipality’s decisions to ensure its actions comply with the law and are fair to all parties.
The demolition contract allows 120 days for completion, requiring officials to closely manage the remaining work while legal proceedings continue. The municipality said it would advance the sections it could complete without affecting those proceedings.
The project aims to remove structures encroaching on the beachfront and return public space for residents and tourists to use, according to the municipality.
