Hua Hin marked the 8th anniversary of the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great on Nawamintharathirat Day, with a special event held in front of Klai Kangwon Palace to honour his life and legacy.

At 5 p.m. on 13 October 2024, Polkrit Puangwalaisin, District Chief of Hua Hin, alongside Mayor Nopporn Wuttikul, led a delegation of municipal executives, government officials, and local community members in the “Walk with Heart to Father’s Home” event.

The participants, dressed in yellow shirts symbolising their respect, carried a portrait of the late monarch from Phon Kingphet Park to Klai Kangwon Palace, a distance of approximately 1.5 kilometres. The walk, which drew nearly 1,000 citizens, was a tribute to King Bhumibol’s enduring legacy and benevolence.

At 6 p.m., a ceremony took place in front of the palace, with the District Chief presiding. Attendees, including representatives from government agencies and the private sector, gathered to express their gratitude for the late King’s contributions to the country.

A traditional dance performance followed, featuring over 100 volunteer dancers of all ages. Dressed in traditional yellow Thai attire, they performed to the song “Natleela Duenphan Tee Yingyai Nom Duangjai Thawai Pho,” demonstrating grace and precision. Participants then lit candles, observed 89 seconds of silence, and sang the songs “Father’s Tree” and “Our Love for Father Will Never Be Enough” in a moving tribute to the late monarch.

King Bhumibol reigned for over 70 years and initiated more than 4,700 royal projects aimed at improving the lives of the Thai people. His philosophy of a sufficiency economy continues to inspire sustainable living in Thailand and beyond.
