Family of woman murdered at Hua Hin hotel receives 140,000 THB compensation
The family of a woman who was murdered at a hotel in Hua Hin will receive 140,000 baht in compensation, following a decision by a provincial subcommittee last week.
The compensation for the murder victim was approved during a meeting of the Provincial Subcommittee on Compensation for Injured Persons and Compensation and Expenses for Defendants in Criminal Cases, chaired by Petty Officer First Class Sakorn Sitthisak, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The meeting took place on Friday, 27 February 2026, at the Bang Nang Rom Meeting Room on the second floor of the old Provincial Hall in Prachuap Khiri Khan. It was the subcommittee’s second meeting of the year. Mr Piyachat Haikhong, Acting Provincial Justice Officer of Prachuap Khiri Khan, served as secretary.
The committee resolved to grant 140,000 baht to the heirs of Ms Wirin Thaolipo under the Victim Compensation and Compensation and Expenses for Defendants in Criminal Cases Act B.E. 2544 (2001), as amended.
Compensation approved under victim support law
The decision follows an incident on 19 January 2026 at a hotel in Soi Hua Hin 88/1, Hua Hin subdistrict. Ms Wirin, who worked at the hotel, was attacked and sustained serious injuries. She later died.
Officials said the case met the criteria for financial assistance under guidelines covering serious and high-profile crimes that attract public attention. The 140,000 baht payment will be provided to her family as part of the state’s victim support mechanism.
Following the incident, Mr Wasan Phereewik, Provincial Justice Officer of Prachuap Khiri Khan, assigned a rights and liberties protection officer to support the family under the Justice Care programme. The initiative is designed to provide coordinated assistance to victims and their relatives in criminal cases.
