Hua Hin hotels, resorts and holiday homes were the focus of a municipal training programme on Friday, 4 September, aimed at improving disease prevention and public health standards.

The event at Hua Hin Grand Hotel and Plaza brought together 100 participants, including accommodation operators, their representatives and relevant officials. Specialists from Hua Hin Hospital provided guidance on preventing and controlling communicable diseases.

Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul opened the programme, organised by the municipality’s Public Health and Environment Division under the theme “Safe Hua Hin, reassured tourists”. Municipal Clerk Jirawat Phrammani and other municipal executives also attended.

Mr Nopporn said past outbreaks of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases had shown how health security and environmental hygiene underpin visitors’ confidence. Accommodation operators had an important role because they were often the first point of contact for tourists, he said.

The training covered monitoring and responding to diseases including Legionnaires’ disease, Ebola, avian influenza, COVID-19 and SARS.

Participants were encouraged to use the guidance to develop standard operating procedures for their businesses, giving staff clear instructions on disease surveillance, prevention and emergency responses.

The programme also aimed to establish faster information sharing between accommodation operators, government agencies and public health services.

Alongside disease prevention, the initiative sought to improve cleanliness, hygiene and environmental standards at accommodation businesses to meet public health requirements. The municipality said these measures would support its goal of developing Hua Hin as a safe and sustainable tourism destination.
