Hua Hin Municipality has ordered Soi 102 drainage work after residents complained about standing water and foul smells in the Na Ta Chang area.
Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul visited Soi 102 on Tuesday, 30 June, with Municipal Clerk Jeerawat Pramanee, Engineering Department Director Kalayut Kuyukham and other municipal officials after complaints were submitted by local residents.
Officials found that the affected area had previously been a pond before being filled in. The work appears to have blocked a natural waterway, causing water to overflow onto the road surface.
The blocked channel left water unable to drain properly, creating stagnant pools and unpleasant odours for people living nearby.
The mayor instructed the Engineering Department to take immediate action by clearing the area and using a backhoe to dig a temporary drainage channel so the water can flow away.
The municipality said an order would also be issued requiring the contractor to stop work and address the problem, in order to prevent further disruption and damage affecting local residents.
Longer-term work is also planned, with the municipality preparing to build a road and install drainage pipes in the area.
Officials said the work is intended to ease the problems faced by residents and improve drainage along the affected section of Soi 102.
Soi 102 drainage has become a concern for residents in the area, particularly where natural waterways have been affected by land filling and construction activity.
