Hua Hin City Municipality has called on the contractor responsible for the Soi Hua Hin 94 road improvement project to accelerate construction amid ongoing delays to a long-running resurfacing project.
Construction on the Soi 94 project began in July 2024 and was initially scheduled for completion in February 2025. However, with the end of April approaching, the project remains incomplete, and progress has been slower than expected.
At a meeting held on 21 April, Mr. Jirawat Phramanee, Permanent Secretary of Hua Hin City Municipality and Chairman of the Procurement Inspection Committee, met with committee members and supervising engineers to follow up on the construction of a reinforced concrete road and drainage system.
Officials were informed that the project is already behind schedule by a couple of months. The supervising engineer reported on the current status of the works and highlighted several challenges that have hindered progress. Specific details of the issues were not disclosed.
The works include the installation of drainage systems and resurfacing the road from the western railway crossing to Ban Chang Heng, extending to the far end of Soi 94 where the road curves to the right. Phase one of the project covers the stretch from the 7-Eleven on Soi 94 to the intersection near Amara Resort.
The meeting concluded with a resolution urging the contractor to carry out the work in line with the standards and scope set by the municipality. Officials also emphasised the need for the project to be completed as soon as possible to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution while navigating the area and to follow the posted signs to ensure safety during the ongoing construction.
The Soi 94 roadworks are part of wider efforts to improve infrastructure in Hua Hin, particularly in areas affected by poor drainage and deteriorating road surfaces.
