A new documentary explores life in Prachuap Khiri Khan through the experiences of local residents, covering the province’s coastline, wildlife, agriculture and appeal as a place to live.
The 18-minute film, A Secret in Paradise – Prachuap Khiri Khan, was produced by Will Robinson, with contributions from local residents, schools and community representatives.
Among those featured is Hua Hin resident Gary Stevens, the former professional footballer who played for Brighton & Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur and England. In the documentary, Stevens shares his experience of living in the province for seven years.
Former tourism and sports minister Weerasak Kowsurat also contributes, discussing the appeal of local communities and the interest in travel that allows visitors to experience everyday life.
Weerasak said: “Nowadays, more and more people are looking for authentic experiences. They want to know how local people live in different regions. Many want to get away from chaotic cities and find some harmony with nature and with people who live in harmony with their environment. This is what this pristine area offers.”

The documentary examines pineapple and coconut farming, emerging cacao production and locally made chocolate. It also covers hawksbill sea turtles, the province’s coastline and beaches, golf and life in the area.
Robinson said: “I think it’s a good line-up of interviews to tell the story of Prachuap Khiri Khan, ‘A Secret in Paradise’, and the fact that the province is becoming the ‘People’s Choice’ of places to live for foreigners in the Kingdom.”
The production received support from local government representatives, educators, community organisations and businesses. Those thanked by Robinson include Khao Phithak Municipal School, representatives of Kui Buri National Park, the Prachuap “Diamond-Hearted Women’s Power” Club and Wyndham Hua Hin Pranburi Resort and Villas.
