Senior officials and government department heads in Prachuap Khiri Khan gathered at the Governor’s Residence on 9 April for a traditional water-pouring ceremony held to mark the Songkran Festival.
The ceremony, led by Deputy Governors Kittiphong Sukphakakul, Sinat Oei-iam, Prateep Boriboonrat and Preeda Sukjai, saw officials pay respects and seek blessings from Sitthichai Sawatsan, Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, and Dr. Busakorn Sawatsan, President of the Provincial Red Cross Chapter.
Songkran, recognised as the traditional Thai New Year, is celebrated annually as a time for family gatherings, cultural observances and merit-making. The water-pouring ritual, in particular, symbolises the act of seeking forgiveness and receiving blessings from respected elders.
In addition to honouring the governor and his wife, attendees also poured water for the four deputy governors as a gesture of goodwill and to express hopes for good fortune in the coming year.
Held in a respectful and festive atmosphere, the event reflected the ongoing importance of maintaining cultural traditions in official and community life across the province.
