Phetchaburi province is making a dedicated effort to combine nature’s healing properties and Thailand’s age-old wisdom of holistic well-being to redefine its tourism strategy.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Phetchaburi Office will launch new initiatives centered on Thai traditional wisdom of harnessing herbs both as nourishment and medicine—a legacy passed down through centuries.
The drive aims to introduce domestic and international tourists to authentic and meaningful wellness experiences, emphasizing hands-on activities in organic farms and nature, as well as the vast knowledge of traditional Thai vitality-boosting treatments.
Complementing this will be a special emphasis on family-friendly activities and destinations to cater to family vacations.
These initiatives follow an overarching national vision called “365 Days of Magnificent Thailand, Travel Every Day” and “Happy 4 HD.”
Ms Eurblarp Sriphiromya, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Phetchaburi Office, recently spoke to Hua Hin Today, revealing Phetchaburi’s intentions to lure travelers seeking holistic, ‘Meaningful Wellness’ experiences.
“Each district of Phetchaburi has its own unique set of characteristics. The aim is to open all these areas to tourists, ensuring they leave with a sense of happiness,” Ms Sriphiromya said.
In order to help establish the province as a wellness destination, the TAT Phetchaburi Office is set to launch the ‘Meaningful Wellness Phetchaburi’ route, which puts nature and wisdom at its centre.
This initiative will offer transformative travel experiences to both domestic and international tourists, with a focus on the overall happiness and wellbeing of every traveler.
Wellness tourism has been on a steady upsurge in Thailand in recent years, with more tourists seeking experiences that mix travel with well-being, with Phetchaburi now poised to tap into this growing trend.
The move will see Phetchaburi’s tourism office collaborating with the Phetchaburi Provincial Public Health, in order to uphold the highest standards for wellness centers and health attractions for visitors in three distinct categories:
Wellness Leisure – Focusing on wholesome travel experiences, ensuring travelers get restful sleep, delightful meals, engaging activities, and overall pleasant experiences.
Well-being – Prioritizing disease prevention, emphasizing self-care as a gateway to good health. This includes activities centered on relaxation, detoxification, stress reduction, and more.
Rehabilitation – Dedicated to both therapeutic rehabilitation and treatment, addressing both physical and mental health challenges stemming from modern-day lifestyles.
In addition to the offerings of areas in the province already popular with tourists, such as Cha-am beach, the Meaningful Wellness initiative will help to highlight all eight districts in the province: Mueang Phetchaburi, Khao Yoi, Nong Ya Plong, Ban Laem, Ban Lat, Tha Yang, Kaeng Krachan, and Cha-am.
