Volunteers and partner organisations across Prachuap Khiri Khan are preparing 159,000 sandalwood flowers for public offering ceremonies on 16 December, with Hua Hin residents able to pay their respects at Wat Huay Mongkol.

The ceremonies will honour Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother as part of the royal cremation proceedings. Members of the public can offer flowers in two sessions, at 9am and 4pm.

Organisations and volunteers across all eight districts will make flowers in seven designs: daffodil, rose, cotton rose, lily, orchid, chaba thip and chaba nu.

The provincial ceremony will take place at Wat Thammikaram Worawihan in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan district. The provincial Public Works and Town and Country Planning Office will construct a medium-sized offering pavilion there.

Lotus-shaped offering pavilions will be built at the following district venues:

– Hua Hin: Wat Huay Mongkol
– Pranburi: Wat Nong Ta Taem
– Sam Roi Yot: Wat Sam Roi Yot
– Kui Buri: Wat Kui Buri
– Thap Sakae: Wat Khao Ban Klang
– Bang Saphan: Wat Khao Bot
– Bang Saphan Noi: Wat Don Makok

Preparations were discussed at a meeting at Provincial Hall on Thursday, 8 October, chaired by Acting Governor Apinya Iam-ampha. Government officials, agency representatives and senior monks attended, with eight working groups appointed to oversee arrangements.

The meeting also outlined activities marking the first anniversary of the Queen Mother’s passing on Saturday, 24 October.

Buddhist chanting, merit-making and alms offerings will take place in the ceremonial area in front of Provincial Hall, alongside volunteer activities for the public benefit in her honour.
