A proposal to support Hua Hin smart city development was presented to Hua Hin City Municipality on Thursday, outlining a technology-led vision to improve transport, tourism services and urban safety as the city plans its next stage of growth.
On 15 January, the mayor assigned Deputy Mayor Mr Atichat Chaisri to jointly chair a session to hear a company introduction and project presentation from D.T.C. Enterprise Public Company Limited. The briefing was attended by municipal executives and senior officials, along with Mr Kitipong Siriphetkasem, director of Hua Hin Bus Co., Ltd. and president of the Hua Hin–Cha-am Tourism Business Association. The meeting was held in the Poolsuk Meeting Room at the Hua Hin City Municipality Office.
The proposal, titled Hua Hin Connect 236: Re-imagining Hua Hin as a World-Class Smart Destination, sets out a framework for Hua Hin smart city development focused on integrated transport, data-driven tourism services and digital infrastructure. According to the presentation, the approach aims to connect existing systems rather than replace them, with the goal of improving efficiency and the day-to-day experience for residents and visitors.
Integrated transport and digital services
A central element of the plan is the integration of local public transport into a single digital platform, allowing routes, ticketing and real-time information to be accessed through one system. The proposal also includes mapping participating community businesses and partner services within a smart navigation platform, designed to make it easier for visitors to move around the city and discover local areas beyond established tourist zones.
The concept also features a mobile application that would offer personalised recommendations for attractions and activities, based on individual lifestyle preferences. Presenters said this could help spread visitor numbers more evenly across the city while supporting smaller operators and community-based tourism.
In terms of safety and urban management, the proposal outlines the installation of smart poles and AI-enabled surveillance cameras in selected areas. These systems would be used to monitor public spaces and support incident management, with the stated aim of improving safety and building confidence among residents and tourists.
Municipal officials said the city will now review the technical details of the proposed systems to assess how they could be adapted for use within existing municipal operations. Any future steps would need to align with national smart city guidelines and the municipality’s long-term development plans.
