The RUN for Salesian Centenary 2026 drew more than 2,000 runners to Hua Hin Wittayalai School on Sunday morning, marking 100 years of the Salesian congregation’s mission in Thailand.

The charity event aimed to raise funds for scholarships for underprivileged students, as well as new learning equipment to modernise teaching at the school.

Father Boonlert Paneetthayasai, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, presided over the opening ceremony.

Those in attendance included Ms Worakan Thawon, Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Prachuap Khiri Khan Office; Pol Col Kampanat Na Wichai, Superintendent of Hua Hin Police Station; Pol Col Samoe Yusamran, Adviser to the Mayor of Hua Hin City; Mr Kitipong Siriphetkasem, President of the Hua Hin–Cha-am Tourism Business Association; Mr Channarong Panichnanthakul, President of the Hua Hin Wittayalai School Parents and Teachers Association; and Mr Rangsan Boonthae, President of the Hua Hin Wittayalai Alumni Association.

Participants competed in 10km, 5km and 3km categories. The route started at Hua Hin Wittayalai School, continued along Soi 88, passed Hua Hin Railway Station and Hua Hin City Municipality, and followed Phetkasem Road towards Amari Hua Hin before returning to the school.

Organisers said the strong turnout reflected community support for both the centenary milestone and the school’s fundraising goals.
