On 13 July 2025, Mr. Sinat Oaiam, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan, presided over the opening ceremony of the Sam Roi Yot Run 2025, held under the theme “Walk-Run in the Footsteps of King Rama IX.”
Among those attending the event were Mr. Warawut Jirapraphanon, District Chief of Sam Roi Yot; Pol. Sub-Lt. Thiti Natesawang, President of the Sam Roi Yot Subdistrict Administrative Organisation; Mr. Sitthisak Noiponphet, Kamnan (subdistrict headman) of Sam Roi Yot; Mr. Chatchai Charot, Village Head of Moo 5, Sam Roi Yot; Mr. Sumet Charoensuk, President of the CSR Club for Sam Roi Yot Tourism; and Ms. Jirawan Bunyarit, Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Prachuap Khiri Khan Office, as well as many honorary guests and a large number of charity-minded runners.
Participants in the 21.1-kilometre half marathon started at the front of the Im-Ok-Im-Jai Seafood & Café and Cabana Resort, while runners in the 10.5 km and 5 km categories began at the Long Lay Market by Sam Roi Yot Beach. The scenic course allowed runners to enjoy a beautiful sunrise, fine white sand, fresh sea air, and views of the lush Sam Roi Yot mountain range.
On this occasion, Dr. Jit Sirikorn Notim, owner of Im-Ok-Im-Jai Seafood & Café and Cabana Resort, sponsored a special prize: a free stay awarded to a lucky participant in the 21.1 km category. Additionally, the TAT Prachuap Khiri Khan Office provided 10 special prizes for lucky runners at the event.
Mr. Sitthisak Noiponphet, Kamnan of Sam Roi Yot, said the Sam Roi Yot community leadership council, in cooperation with government agencies, the private sector, and local residents, organised the “Sam Roi Yot Run 2025: Walk-Run in the Footsteps of King Rama IX” to promote health and physical activity, while also encouraging cooperation between all sectors of society. Proceeds from the event, after expenses, will go towards the purchase of a rescue vehicle for the Sam Roi Yot Subdistrict, valued at over 1.5 million baht. The vehicle will be used to serve both local residents and tourists.
Deputy Governor Sinat Oaiam commented that the event was of great value, promoting health and well-being while building community strength. Most importantly, the collaboration across sectors to organise this community-led event ensures that the proceeds will meet a real and pressing need—the purchase of a rescue vehicle that will directly benefit both locals and visitors to Sam Roi Yot.
